Paintball & God?

Sunday is the day... We were going to link God & Paintball. On the agenda for Youth Group today was to play some games & talk about paintball and missing the mark.
Father Al had spoken in one of his sermons about the literal definition of sin is "missing the mark". I can just see the tons of light bulbs going off in everyone's head.

We talked about how every paintball gun comes with 200 paintballs and the average person in our Youth Group hit their mark only 4 times. That means that we as a group missed our mark around 194 times on Saturday night. But if we as a group went every Saturday for one year the number of times we missed our mark would drop significantly.
The kids spoke of the places in our lives where we miss the mark... School (not doing homework on time), home (not listening to their parents) and youth group (not participating in all the activities). We then talked about those things we can do to help us "practice" to not miss the mark: prayer, church, youth group, asking for forgiveness, and tithing.

With pledge time coming up we talked about tithing as youth. We did the math: if 14 youth group members gave $1 a week for a year, we as a group would raise $672! That's paintball 3 times! That's Garner at least once and maybe LaserQuest!

Talking about these things: prayer, tithing, church & youth group, we know that they can help us to keep on the mark, but it is a commitment to God and ourselves that help us stay on track and not miss the mark when temptation hits us.

So there you have it.... Paintball & God!

Ready, Set, Paintball!

Well we made it through paintball! No ER visit necessary! A told of 14 people paintballed, 10 youth and 4 adults (including 2 parents!!). That's right I was not the only "crazy" adult willing to get shot with paintball, thanks to Clinton, Susan Rice & Richard DeLeon. Yep... I bet none of you knee our former Senior Warden had it in him... but he does! Also I must note, that the girls in our youth group held their own
(there was some questions running around!).
Most kids walked away with a couple of bruises, but nothing too bad... unless you count the mouth of paint taken by Haley Rice, or the shot to the collar bone on the last game Collin Wells took, or the mask shot taken by Heather Vela.

Now the big question....How in the world are paintball and God related? We will discuss this at youth group on Sunday.

Farewell Flamingos!

It's now time to say "good-bye" to our fantastic feathered friends! That's right our flock of flamingos have flown the coop! (well at least till next year!)

The youth group want to first say thank you to the entire congregation who participated in the flamingoing either by purchasing insurance or by being flocked! We hope you had as much fun sending them on to others as we did flamingoing!
Also, I want to say a HUGE thanks to all the youth who helped with flocking, we couldn't have done it without each of you!

Can you guess who's house got flamingoed?
