Bishop's Youth Day

Well we did it! 9 of our youth and four very brave adults made the five-hour drive to and from Schlitterbahn South Padre!

Our kids had a BLAST, a little sunburned, very tired, but happy! Our trip began on Friday… after picking up two band members from a football game our trip started about 8:30 Friday night. We got to Corpus Christi in one piece and invaded All Saint’s Youth Room. After a very neat unique Complain using the New Zealand Prayer Book, we were finally off to bed. 6 am Saturday morning came very quickly! We stopped a McDonald’s for breakfast and we were off again! Schlittebahn South Padre is amazing! And we quickly found that even though it’s small they have the best idea of making the water rides accessible from the pool… so no standing in the hot sun waiting in line for us, it was sitting back in our tubes waiting! We hit the Boogie Bahn were a couple of our guys impressed us with the boogie-board talents. Lunch was great and a then it was off to the beach! We had fun in the waves and then back for some more water rides. Finished with dinner and Eucharist led by Bishop Reed and we were one tired bunch. Five hours in the cars back and we camped out on the floor in our undercroft. Six hours later and we were up and ready to go again. Made it through the 8 am service, where I am sure the sea of orange shirts filling 2 pews blinded at least one person! Sunday School Kick-off was packed for the new semester! 10:45 am on Sunday you had 9 youth who were pooped, sunburned and running on fumes… but happy none the less!

A humongous thank you to Father David who braved the trip with us and still provided a great sermon the next day. All Saint’s CC for letting us crash in their youth room. Tim (Kirstyn’s dad) and Marilyn (my best friend) who braved the trip with us and had a great time!
