Council 2010 - Youth in Action

This year's council was the BIGGEST EVER!! St. Andrew’s was represented by 6 youth, Kirstyn, Alex, Haley, Emily, Megan and Mia – our biggest group ever!!! While the Good Sheppard was host to over 100 youth from all over the Diocese who planned to work at Clif Maus Village.
What an amazing site to see such a big group come together to help beautify and update our wonderful Epsicopal sponsored housing. Our kids took to weeding for most of the morning – filling up over 4 bags of weeds! The afternoon was filled with a different type of work, but work none the less. We helped with a mulch passing line! One of the most amazing site I have ever seen working with our youth – over 50 youth working in a row to pass mulch from one person to another to get the job done! After adding the mulch to the playground in hopes of updating the play area, we “worked” with chalk and bubbles “playing” with some of the youth who live at Cliff Maus.
After the hard work (and a much needed/way too cold) shower, we relaxed and had fun at FunTrackers! The youth (and myself) had a BLAST driving go karts and unwinding after a long day!
On the way home we had the chance to talk about the weekend and what our favorite parts were. What an amazing thing to hear that favorite parts included: seeing Christ in the people we were helping, having fun weeding!, and hearing that a youth from another youth group has picked one of our youth to be his role model! WOW! I would say that’s one successful trip!
